1990 Commemorative Ornament

Golden Anniversary of the Fiscal Service

THA's 1990 ornament depicts one of the three sets of ornate entry doors to the Cash Room. The ornament measures approximately 4 by 2-1/4 inches.

The Fiscal Service of the Department of the Treasury was created by President Franklin D. Roosevelt's Reorganization Plan III, approved by the Congress in 1940. The responsibilities of the Fiscal Service included the operation of the Cash Room of the Treasury Building, which was completed in 1869, with its debut being the inaugural reception for President Ulysses S. Grant. The majestic room measures 72 by 36 feet, with its two-story ceiling of 20 feet.
